In May 2000, the Canadian Species at Risk Act listed the Island Marble as being extirpated in Canada.

In 1998 the Island Marble, thought to be extinct since 1908, was discovered during a prairie butterfly survey in San Juan Islands National Park. The species is not yet listed as endangered.[1]
